Nairobi, Kenya: Shammah Orphanage

An orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya was in need of a sanitary way to store water because there is no running water at their location.  They take care of 33 children, mostly orphaned by civil unrest over the past several years.  The orphanage was storing water in makeshift tubs and containers which were left out in the open.

This method of water storage is unsanitary and even dangerously open to contamination

The KOOSJ arranged for the purchase and installation of a 500 gallon water tank
to solve their problem of sanitary water storage.

  1. Dr.Shintani,
From Hawai'i to Nairobi,Kenya, which is halfway around the global map, your humanitarian efforts on behalf of the OOSJ clearly resonates the vision both you & Kenny Brown articulated via hand-drawn global maps ~ your vision of "health" and Kenny Brown's "Aloha Spirit," both eminating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean from Hawai'i. Is this happenstance or is it Faith ??? Aloha Joyce

P.S. I was privy to be at a "talk-story" session with Kenny Brown where he presented his "Aloha Spirit" map @ Maile Meyer's "Native Books" store!
